Job Description

Description

National Security customers are moving their most sensitive, mission-critical workloads to AWS, and they need a technical advisor who understands both the technology and the stakes. As our Enterprise Support footprint grows across classified environments, we're adding a Sr. Technical Account Manager (TAM) to meet that demand head-on. In this role, you are the single most important technical relationship our National Security customers have at AWS. You'll work where cloud architecture meets operational health and customer strategy, going hands-on with customers as they adopt services like EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, SageMaker, ECS/EKS, GuardDuty, Systems Manager, OpenSearch, and Bedrock inside classified environments. You won't troubleshoot tickets directly, but you will own the technical trajectory of your accounts: identifying risks before they become incidents, driving architecture decisions that hold up under pressure, and representing AWS in rooms where the margin for error is zero. This is not a sales role. It is a seat at the table with senior government and defense leaders who rely on your judgment to keep their operations running and evolving. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. Key job responsibilities - Lead technical engagements: Conduct deep-dive architecture reviews and operational health assessments to keep customer environments reliable and mission-ready. - Design secure cloud solutions: Partner with customers to architect and implement cloud-native systems that meet the security and compliance demands of classified workloads. - Drive proactive risk management: Identify operational gaps, surface emerging risks, and work with AWS service teams to resolve issues before they reach production. - Accelerate adoption of AI/ML and autonomous capabilities: Help customers integrate services like SageMaker, Bedrock, and ECS/EKS into their existing workflows, turning new technology into practical, deployable solutions. - Represent the customer inside AWS: Advocate for your customers' technical needs across AWS service teams, escalation paths, and product roadmap discussions. A day in the life Most of your week is spent face-to-face (or screen-to-screen) with customers. Mondays typically start with cadence calls: checking in on open action items, reviewing operational metrics, and setting priorities for the week. Midweek is where the deeper work happens - leading Well-Architected reviews, walking through architecture proposals, or running incident post-mortems with customer engineering teams. When something breaks, you're the one coordinating across AWS service teams to drive resolution and communicating status to senior leadership in real time. Between customer sessions, you'll have focused time to research new AWS services relevant to your accounts and prepare briefing materials, as well as collaborate with fellow TAMs on patterns you're seeing across the national security space. Travel is approximately 10% or more as needed. About the team AWS Enterprise Support is growing to keep pace with expanding demand for cloud services in classified environments. You'll join a team of TAMs who specialize in national security accounts, a tight-knit group that shares knowledge freely and holds each other to a high bar. The team works closely with AWS service teams, solutions architects, and security specialists to deliver outcomes that matter at national scale. This role will stretch you technically. Every customer environment is different, and the classified context adds complexity that keeps the work challenging. You'll build deep expertise in secure cloud architecture while developing the executive-level advisory skills that define the next stage of your career.
