CAL Test Engineer supports testing operations by executing integration and system testing for network, server, and hardware changes within the Client Access Lab (CAL). The role supports physical and virtual test environments, coordinates onsite lab activities, documents test results and defects, and works closely with QA/Risk and operations teams to ensure changes are validated and ready for deployment.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Perform functional, regression, compatibility, and performance testing of enterprise IT/OT infrastructure components, including physical servers, network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), operating system images, and security devices.
- Conduct integration testing across infrastructure layers (network segments, security platforms, and server/storage environments) to validate interoperability and configuration compliance against change requests and requirements.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for the Client Access Lab (CAL), including coordination of physical and virtual test environments (DTE, SysTest, ITE) used for development, integration, and validation activities.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test reports; document test results with clear traceability to requirements and change requests; track defects and coordinate retesting and resolution with engineering and operations teams.
- Support break-fix and restoration of service activities; conduct performance and functional testing post-restoration to validate system integrity before returning to operation.
- Ensure test activities comply with risk management, change control, and release management processes and agency security and configuration policies.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required. Active Public Trust and/or DHS Suitability is preferred. U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
- 1+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure testing or systems support experience in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience testing infrastructure components such as servers (physical/virtual), network devices, OS images, storage systems, or security devices.
- Familiarity with performance and monitoring concepts for network and server infrastructure (e.g., bandwidth, latency, throughput, capacity utilization).
- Experience with enterprise change management processes (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM) and how testing integrates with change requests and production deployments.
- Ability to work on-site in Tyson's Corner, Virginia as required. - Capability to support onsite lab coordination, including physical hardware, cabling, and test environment configuration - Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required. An active Public Trust and/or DHS suitability is preferred. Must be a U.S. Citizen without dual citizenship.
Minimum Education requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Years of Required Work-Related Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on IT testing or systems support experience in enterprise environments.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Exposure to automated testing tools or scripting (e.g., basic test automation frameworks).
