The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. ALG Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. ALG collaborates closely with Project LEO to leverage the constellation of advanced satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. About the Role We're looking for a Network Development Engineer to help build and maintain network infrastructure across data center and engineering environments. You'll contribute to architectures that support production systems, integration environments, and engineering labs - learning to deliver reliability and scalability while supporting teams in moving fast. You'll apply data center networking fundamentals - switching, routing, segmentation, and basic automation - across environments with varying requirements. You'll work alongside senior engineers to implement designs, troubleshoot issues, and build foundational automation that keeps infrastructure running smoothly. About You You're eager to learn and build. You have solid networking fundamentals and are developing your skills in automation and infrastructure-as-code. You're comfortable configuring switches and routers, and you're building the instinct to ask "how do I automate this?" You're not afraid to dig into a packet capture or trace a connectivity issue end-to-end, and you understand that reliable infrastructure is what enables great engineering. Key job responsibilities Implement & configure network infrastructure - switching, routing, VLANs, and connectivity across data center and lab environments following established designs and standards Build and maintain network automation scripts and configuration templates under guidance from senior engineers; contribute to tooling that enables infrastructure to scale Support & sustain multi-tenant network environments including technology refresh, patching, and day-to-day operations - following established processes for simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions Troubleshoot & resolve network issues spanning physical layer through application connectivity; escalate complex cross-domain events while learning root-cause analysis techniques Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams to understand requirements and support smooth rollout of new designs and products Contribute to network deployment projects, sustaining engineering tasks, and infrastructure scaling efforts under the direction of senior engineers Follow and maintain standards for change management, documentation (SOPs, implementation guides, knowledge transfer), and configuration control Basic Qualifications 1+ years of major internet routing protocols experience 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience 1+ years of data center, critical environment, network deployment, or data center operations experience, or experience with Network Protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies 1+ years of network engineering experience (design, deployment, or operations) Experience with enterprise/data center switching platforms (Arista, Cisco Nexus, Juniper, or similar) Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or similar) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field Preferred Qualifications Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Netmiko, NAPALM, or similar) Experience with Linux networking (bridges, namespaces, virtual interfaces, firewalling) Exposure to infrastructure-as-code concepts (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) Experience supporting engineering labs, test environments, or integration infrastructure Familiarity with version control systems (Git) Interest in or exposure to SDN concepts, programmable data planes, or SONiC Interest in or exposure to RF, satellite, or communications system hardware integration Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols - Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting - Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF - Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos - Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
Preferred Qualifications
