What You'll be Owning
- Translate mission needs, operational concepts, and customer interfaces into actionable digital engineering artifacts-including use cases, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), sequence diagrams, data schemas, and functional requirements.
- Develop and maintain structural and behavioral architecture models using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies (SysML) to drive downstream software design and maintain traceability.
- Partner embedded within an agile development team to refine the backlog, clarify system behavior, define acceptance criteria, and ensure implemented software features faithfully align with mission objectives.
- Define and review software-facing interface protocols, data structures, and messaging schemas (such as REST, HTTP, JSON/Protobuf, or publish/subscribe models) to support ground-to-space and ground-to-ground communication.
- Formulate verification matrices, author test plans and procedures, and collaborate with software testers to validate system capabilities against requirements using automated test frameworks.
- Participate in technical exchange meetings (TEMs), working groups, and interface control boards. Support milestone reviews, technical demonstrations, and customer briefings with data-backed artifacts.

- Practical experience in satellite ground systems, Command and Control (
C2 ), and mission management systems. - Demonstrated experience building or evaluating behavioral and structural models using
MBSE methodologies and
SysML tools - Proven ability to author technical specifications for software developers, including sequence diagrams, message schemas, data flows, and ICDs involving modern network/web protocols (REST, HTTP, event queues).
- Hands-on experience working in an agile software development environment utilizing the
Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) for backlog refinement, tracing, and sprint execution. - Experience drafting verification requirements, mapping test criteria, and supporting integration, functional checkout, and formal requirements sell-off.
