What Impact You'll Have
We are seeking a skilled
Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our multi-team agile engineering program. In this hands-on role, you will build, integrate, and deploy reliable backend services, data pipelines, and core software components supporting mission-critical capabilities.
As an individual contributor, you will independently own features throughout the software development lifecycle-from design collaboration and local coding to automated testing, containerized deployment, and production support.

Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our multi-team agile engineering program. In this hands-on role, you will build, integrate, and deploy reliable backend services, data pipelines, and core software components supporting mission-critical capabilities.
As an individual contributor, you will independently own features throughout the software development lifecycle-from design collaboration and local coding to automated testing, containerized deployment, and production support.
What You'll be Owning
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python. Deliver clean, modular, and maintainable code adhering to established team standards.
- Build and maintain reliable interfaces, data contracts, and integration points connecting distributed services, external systems, and event-driven data streams.
- Author automated unit, integration, and regression test suites to ensure system resilience and data fidelity. Troubleshoot and resolve defects across development and test environments.
- Profile application execution, database queries, and data workflows to identify bottlenecks, optimize latency, and maintain reliable throughput.
- Package applications using Docker and manage deployments to Kubernetes clusters using Helm. Work directly within CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality checks, automated tests, and vulnerability scans run smoothly on every build.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and peer code reviews. Translate user stories and interface requirements into working, production-ready software increments.
What You Must Have
- Active or current
Top-Secret (TS) security clearance. - Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience building and deploying production applications.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency with
Python (backend frameworks, async programming, data structures) and
Bash scripting for task automation and system-level operations. - Practical experience with relational databases-specifically
PostgreSQL (schema design, index usage, writing performant SQL)-and
Redis for caching, state management, or message buffering. - Proven experience containerizing applications with
Docker and deploying/troubleshooting workloads in
Kubernetes using
Helm . - Proficient with
Git collaborative workflows; regular experience integrating into CI/CD pipelines incorporating automated testing, code linters, and security vulnerability scanning. - Demonstrated ability to independently deliver user stories, navigate existing codebases, and write defensive, testable code.
What Would be Nice to Have
- Active or current
Top-Secret clearance with SCI access and polygraph (TS/SCI with poly). - Privileged User eligibility (CompTIA Security+ certification, DoD 8570 IAT Level II, or equivalent).
- Experience with distributed messaging or event-driven patterns (e.g., message brokers, pub/sub architectures).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and standard API design patterns (REST, gRPC).
- Exposure to monitoring, observability, and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) within Kubernetes environments.
- Knowledge of space-to-ground architectures, interface standards, Command and Control (
C2 ) systems, or Mission Management (
MM ) systems.
