What You'll Do:
The Senior NALCOMIS Virtual Environment (VE) Systems Administrator provides advanced systems administration for Virtual Environments hosting NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA and NIWC-directed VMs at NTWL. The role focuses on day-to-day VE operations, OS and application maintenance, cybersecurity implementation, and recovery activities to ensure full functionality, availability, and compliance of VE-hosted systems.

What You'll Do:
The Senior NALCOMIS Virtual Environment (VE) Systems Administrator provides advanced systems administration for Virtual Environments hosting NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA and NIWC-directed VMs at NTWL. The role focuses on day-to-day VE operations, OS and application maintenance, cybersecurity implementation, and recovery activities to ensure full functionality, availability, and compliance of VE-hosted systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer VE-hosted servers and applications in accordance with NIWC procedures and guidance.
- Execute software, cybersecurity, and DAP-related updates immediately following NIWC release, including OS patching, application upgrades, and configuration changes.
- Perform system and application validation following maintenance, outages, or configuration changes; document results and coordinate corrective actions with VE Team and stakeholders.
- Provide console-level access and troubleshooting within the VE where RDP is restricted, including VM configuration checks, service validation, and system recovery.
- Support build-up, configuration, and lifecycle management of Detachment Server Pool Stock in line with NIWC procedures to enable squadron detachment operations.
- Assist with ACAS vulnerability scan preparation and execution; perform assigned remediation actions, including STIG application and configuration updates for VE-hosted systems.
- Maintain VE-related documentation including system baselines, build procedures, change records, and operational checklists.
- Provide senior-level technical guidance and mentoring to journeyman and junior VE staff.
- Support coordination of maintenance windows, outage notifications, and restoration communications with VE Team and squadron SA/DBAs for routine changes.
- Contribute to incident response and root-cause analysis for VE-hosted system issues.
- Develop and maintain VE architecture documentation, SOPs, build guides, and contingency/DR plans.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to senior, journeyman, and junior VE staff; lead technical training for supported organizations.
- Support incident response and root-cause analysis for complex VE issues; recommend long-term corrective actions and resiliency improvements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline; additional experience may be substituted for degree. (One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required)
- Certifications:
- Ability to obtain DoD 8570/8140 Requirement: IAT Level II or III baseline (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher.
- Experience
- A minimum of six (6) years of systems administration experience, including at least three (3) years supporting virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) with mission-critical workloads.
- Experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers in a secure, DoD/DoW or federal environment.
- Practical experience with patch management, backup/restore, and system recovery operations in virtualized environments.
- Familiarity with ACAS or equivalent vulnerability scanning tools and basic STIG implementation.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel to project and customer locations as needed.
- U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA, NTCSS, or similar Naval aviation logistics systems.
- VMware, Microsoft, or Linux certifications (e.g., VCP, MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE).
- Familiarity with privileged access.
- Experience working within ITIL-based service management and formal change control processes.
- Additional security-focused certifications such as CySA+, CEH, CASP+, or equivalent
- Active Secret security clearance
