Logistics Support Specialist Advisor

POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Logistics Support Specialist /Advisor,

• Provides technical advice and support to the General Services Office (GSO) and other sections and agencies as needed for travel manifesting management and transportation logistics.


• Assist Embassy travel team personnel with basic information gathering, creation, and maintenance of related reports to include project planning, project management and logistics management.


• Manage coordination between contractors and local shuttle bus and armed shuttle bus operations in all aspects of personnel movement to/from BIAP.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:

• Assist the GSO, Regional Security Office, Airport Liaison Unit (ALU) and airport agents in project planning, management, and implementing all aspects of the shuttle process, from initial manifesting to execution.


• Review and report contractor shuttle operations for deficiencies, while monitoring and analyzing the performance of any transportation operations or contracts.


• Serves as DOS contractor shuttle advisor; develop reports that summarize and forecast trends and highlight service shortfalls; work to implement various tracking and performance monitoring programs.


• Advise DOS, other agencies, and contracting companies on the contractor shuttle processes. Support DOS in understanding, informing, and coordinating on special projects.


• Provide training, guidance and assign workload to the shuttle coordinator staff to ensure timely submission of information for effective shuttle operations.


• Assist the GSO with recruiting, hiring, and training for local national Iraqi staff to support long term travel and shuttle operations.


• Answer inquiries and requests for information regarding the contractor shuttle process and operations.


• Maintain the Contractor Shuttle SOP to reflect the most current Embassy Baghdad operations and regulations.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, with five years of relevant transportation and shuttle bus manifesting experience is required.


2. Comprehensive knowledge of logistics systems and responsibilities.
