SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (OPERATIONS OFFICER)

Duties

• You will provide technical , operational, and administrative supervision over the Operations Division.
• You will be responsible for the planning, managing, directing, and evaluating of law enforcement and security operations.
• You will initiate, establishes, plans mission priorities based on guidance provided that optimizes law enforcement output in a range of related areas.
• You will supervise personnel who provide installation security, respond/investigate complaints while enforcing Federal /Assimilated Laws, Uniformed Code of Military Justice, DoD and Don regulations, Marine corps Orders, and installation regulations.
• You will assign subordinates to shifts and areas of responsibility based in consideration of mission requirements and availability of resources.
• You will prepare work schedules for subordinate supervisors and review vacation/leave schedules for entire force to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
• You will review completed work for accuracy and compliance with instructions and regulatory requirements.
• You will ensure the conduct of required initial training, sustainment training, and training on new policies and laws.
• You will patrol periodically by vehicle and/or foot in a supervisory capacity aboard all areas of the installation.
• You will respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing Federal Law, State Law, Uniform Code of Military Justice, Naval regulations, Marine Corps Orders, and Base Regulations.

• Must be a US Citizen, 18 years of age, and pass a National Agency Check and local background check. Must pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

• Position is subject to shift work and 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number requiring response. May be subject to meal or other break interruption while on duty.

• Must pass sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
• Must carry firearms. Must pass all weapons qualifications prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass all re qualifications as required.
• Must Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• This is a Department of Navy drug testing designated position and pre-employment urinalysis required in addition to sustainment drug testing.
• Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, an other certification required to accomplish duties.
• Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
• This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Retirement System Base Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
• Must maintain height and weight appearance standards and are required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies.
• Must successfully complete a designated USMC Base Police Officers Course and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR/AED, and DoD and Joint Training Regulations.
• As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots, and gloves.
• If conducting law enforcement operations in navigable waters, incumbent must attend the Inland Boat Operators Training Program at FLETC or similar course.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing, directing, and evaluating law enforcement operations; planning mission priorities in a variety of areas that may include traffic, desk, patrol, military working dog/civilian police working dog, Special Reaction Team and investigative operations; reviewing and correcting blotters and reports.
