Occupational Health Nurse

Overview

Kelly Services is seeking an experienced and compassionate Occupational Health Nurse to support employee health, safety, and wellness initiatives. This role provides occupational health nursing services, emergency care, health screenings, wellness education, and case management support while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and nursing standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for promoting employee well-being in a workplace setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care and first-aid treatment for employees experiencing illness or injury in the workplace.
  • Assess employee health concerns and coordinate referrals or transportation for additional medical care when necessary.
  • Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Administer medications, injections, and treatments as directed within the scope of practice and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct health evaluations, screenings, and testing programs, including wellness assessments, drug screenings, audiometric testing, and spirometry when applicable.
  • Promote employee wellness programs and health education initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee medical records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Provide guidance and education to employees regarding health concerns, workplace safety, and available wellness resources.
  • Assist with Workers' Compensation cases, medical leave processes, and return-to-work activities.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Safety, leadership teams, healthcare providers, and external vendors as needed.
  • Monitor compliance with occupational health policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support clinic operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and professional healthcare environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, reporting, trend analysis, and program evaluations.
  • Maintain current nursing licensure and required certifications through continuing education.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Associate degree in Nursing or equivalent nursing education.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of medical information.
  • Ability to work within established nursing protocols, standing orders, and applicable regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in occupational health, emergency room, acute care, or critical care nursing.
  • Occupational Health Nursing certification and/or Case Management certification, or willingness to obtain within three years.
  • Spirometry and Audiometry certifications, or willingness to obtain within one year.
  • Knowledge of occupational health regulations and programs, including OSHA, ADA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and disability management.
  • Experience with EMR systems and electronic documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and related business technologies.

  • Ability to participate in workplace emergency response activities.
  • Willingness to work in an environment that may require participation in a Bloodborne Pathogens program.
