Job Description
U.S. Citizenship Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required.
This position is in-person.
Toyon is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join a team that is developing advanced electro-mechanical systems involving the confluence of mechanics, electronics, sensor systems, and aerospace engineering.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, drafting, and electromechanical systems. The Mechatronics Engineer will be involved during the entire research and development process; from conceptualization, experimentation, validation, prototyping, detailed design, release of technical drawing packages, and through the development of manufacturing processes and specifications. Areas of research and product development include but are not limited to radio frequency (RF) systems, radar, communication, navigation, and hypersonic systems, electronic warfare, navigation warfare, antennas, reentry systems, and unmanned systems.
Responsibilities
• Support end-to-end development of electro-mechanical systems, from concept through prototyping
• Design mechanical and mechatronic components for advanced aerospace, RF, radar, communication, and unmanned systems
• Create precise CAD models, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for systems exposed to vibration, shock, and extreme temperatures
• Address EMI, packaging, and integration requirements for sensor and electronic systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust, innovative designs
Requirements
• An advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Mechatronics, or
a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 5 or more years of Mechatronics experience
• Experience with various elements of mechanical design involving electro-mechanical structures under challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments
• Experience with thermal analysis and design considerations involving electro-mechanical systems, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and sensor systems packaging
• Ability to work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines
• Experience with SolidWorks to create models of assemblies, parts and drawings
The annual pay range for the Mechatronics Engineer is $105,000 to 165,000.
The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
