Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer
Locations: Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ Work Schedule: 100% Onsite

We are seeking a talented Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of spacecraft systems for a variety of government, commercial, and civil space programs.
The GNC team develops innovative solutions for spacecraft autonomy, rendezvous and proximity operations, docking technologies, and next-generation satellite systems. This is an opportunity to work on highly visible missions that push the boundaries of space exploration and defense.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude and position control systems using time and frequency domain techniques.
Develop and evaluate guidance solutions for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO).
Design, analyze, and tune navigation filters, including Kalman Filters, for attitude determination and relative navigation.
Conduct spacecraft GNC performance assessments through simulation, modeling, and analytical tools.
Support early-phase spacecraft design efforts, including sensor and actuator selection, system architecture development, and performance trade studies.
Develop simulation models for spacecraft sensors, actuators, orbital dynamics, environmental effects, and vehicle behavior.
Apply principles of vehicle dynamics, control theory, estimation theory, propulsion, and aerodynamics to complex engineering challenges.
Document designs, analyses, and test results while preparing technical presentations.
Present technical findings to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Basic Qualifications
Principal Engineer (Level 3)
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Master's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience
PhD and 1+ year of relevant experience
Senior Principal Engineer (Level 4)
Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
PhD and 4+ years of relevant experience
Required Skills
Active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI and SAP access.
Experience developing software using MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
Experience in spacecraft Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) systems, including Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS).
Strong understanding of spacecraft dynamics, control systems, and navigation principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Active TS/SCI Clearance.
MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
Experience with Git, SVN, or other version control tools.
Experience implementing spacecraft GNC algorithms on embedded systems.
Strong technical background in spacecraft attitude/orbit dynamics, navigation filtering, and control system design.
Experience supporting on-orbit operations, spacecraft telemetry analysis, and mission performance monitoring.
Experience with Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) planning and algorithms.
Experience supporting spacecraft integration & test, hardware testing, flight operations, or mission execution.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Leadership experience through professional organizations, technical teams, research programs, or other extracurricular activities.
