Standard Job Description

This position is for a Chief Engineering Manager for the PAC-3 Missile Integration Chief Engineer role within the LTIAMD Evolutionary Development PAC-3 Integration Program Area. The candidate must have a proven ability to lead complex technical efforts associated with the development of missile algorithms and tactical missile software.

The successful candidate will report programmatically to the PAC-3 Integration Program Area Chief Engineer and be expected to work closely with the PAC-3 Fire Control Integration Chief Engineer, PAC-3 Launcher Integration Chief Engineer, and other members of Chief Engineering staff to ensure synergy across tasks and to communicate lessons learned.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Providing leadership to the team to achieve successful demonstration of program development milestones including technical reviews with customer and subcontractors, system analyses and software development, flight tests, software development, Software Functional Qualification Test (FQT) and Functional Configuration Audit (FCA).
  • Communicating lessons learned and ensuring synergy across tasks with the entire Chief Engineer staff
  • Develop and execute detailed program plans, schedules, and trade-study analyses
  • Lead or support customer briefings, weekly IPT status updates, Technical Interchange Meetings, Technical Readiness Reviews, and other critical program reviews
  • Participate in Failure Review Boards, Risk Management, and Mission Success Reviews


Requirements:

  • Have familiarity and knowledge of the PAC-3 missile and associated systems, PAC-3 Systems and Software Engineering, and the PAC-3 Software Release processes.
  • Have demonstrated experience in planning and leading technical solutions from proposal through all aspects of development including SRR, PDR, CDR, Qualification, V&V, FCA and transition to production
  • Possess experience and initiative to ensure technical leadership and support for the development process
  • Show a strong understanding of Full Spectrum Leadership principles (technical, people, business, strategic).


Accountable for all aspects of engineering and technology activities within a program, program area, or line of business to ensure mission milestones and business objectives are met. Serves as the primary technical authority / technical interface with internal program management and external customers. Ensures proposals have sound technical solutions and schedules and drive affordability. Leads a technical team of cross functional engineers to ensure successful proper system/product development and execution. Evaluates and ensures complex issues are resolved in a cost effective, innovative way. Champion mission success and drive a mission success culture. Directs a team into exploration of new problem solution areas with novel concepts and approaches, guiding scope definition and prioritizing problems for investigation. Determine appropriate risk posture and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects. Ensure selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability. Ensures program plans and technical baselines are consistent with Program Control processes and Modern Engineering Practices. Responsible for key decision making that impact businesses, the failure to achieve the objectives result in critical impact of program capabilities. Ensures identification of lessons learned, and corrective action are initiated and implemented to improve future and ongoing programs. Provides technical mentoring and career development support of team and allocates resources effectively. Leads and directs the technical execution efforts of the program or LOB.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Ten years of experience
  • Candidate must have familiarity and knowledge of the PAC-3 missile and associated systems, PAC-3 Systems and Software Engineering, PAC-3 Systems Engineering process, and the PAC-3 Software Release processes.
  • Candidate must have a secret clearance with an investigation in the past five years.
  • Candidate must be available for potentially frequent domestic travel.
  • Candidate must possess ability to plan and lead the technical efforts associated with Missile Algorithm development, Agile Software Development, Software Qualification activities, and Requirements Verification/Validation activities.
  • Candidate must possess a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve needs or issues that could be an impediment to success of the team.


Desired Skills

  • An advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is desired
  • Familiarity and knowledge of Air & Missile Defense systems, and interceptors is strongly desired
  • Familiarity with the Lower Tier IAMD Missile Segment and its requirements combined with a working knowledge of the Army customer is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with the Patriot System and IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS) and its requirements combined with a working knowledge of the SHIELD customer is strongly desired.
  • Cross Business Area experience within Lockheed Martin is strongly desired.
  • Working knowledge of dealing with subcontractors and subcontract technical management is desired.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
