Job Description
About You
Are you a Cybersecurity Engineer with expertise across multiple domains, including cloud security, containerization, secure software supply chain and compliance? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where collaboration, innovation, and secure delivery are top priorities? At Rise8, we’re looking for someone like you to lead the charge in securing complex systems, while ensuring client satisfaction across projects. You see AI as a force multiplier, not a shortcut - and you're already weaving it into how you think, build and ship.
As a Cybersecurity Engineer III at Rise8, you will:
Help secure cloud-based environments by implementing and configuring native security solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
Support the application of Continuous RMF practices by assisting in the automation of control implementation and evidence collection.
Assist in automating the provisioning and configuration of IT environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
Deploy and maintain security measures like firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, encryption services, and ICAM solutions.
Help secure containerized and large-scale cloud production systems by applying container security best practices and monitoring runtime security.
Apply cybersecurity concepts across threats, vulnerabilities, encryption, boundary defense, and risk management practices.
Support identity and access management initiatives by implementing least-privilege models and cross-account role configurations.
Create and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams, data flow diagrams, and operational manuals.
Enforce cloud-native security best practices using frameworks such as AWS’s Well-Architected Security Pillar.
Collaborate across teams to support the integration of Zero Trust principles and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
Apply security controls aligned with RMF, FedRAMP, and DISA CC SRG standards for IL4/5/6 environments.
Collaborate with development and platform teams to integrate security practices into lean and agile software delivery pipelines.
Contribute to incident response efforts by assisting with investigations, documenting root cause analyses, and recommending improvements.
Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment that supports your professional and technical growth.
Champion AI-augmented ways of working across your engagement(s), leveraging AI tooling to accelerate delivery, reduce cycle time, and drive better outcomes at scale.
Qualifications:
3-6 years of experience in cloud, cybersecurity, or platform engineering roles, with exposure to securing cloud and on-premises environments.
Hands-on experience securing AWS GovCloud or Azure GCC High environments, including basic control implementation and vulnerability management.
Practical experience securing Kubernetes environments, applying security policies, and supporting container runtime protection.
Exposure to monitoring, logging, and observability platforms with a focus on integrating security monitoring tools.
Experience supporting incident investigations and remediating vulnerabilities in distributed systems.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, with an emphasis on automating security configurations.
Strong working knowledge of Linux system administration, including hardening techniques and scripting in languages like Bash or Python.
Understanding of networking fundamentals, including securing Load Balancers, DNS, SSL/TLS, Firewalls, NAT, and related network services.
Strong communication skills for documenting security findings and collaborating across technical teams.
Growth mindset and proactive interest in expanding cybersecurity and cloud engineering skills.
A degree (BA/BS) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
Must be located within Los Angeles, CA or Colorado Springs, CO and able to work in a hybrid capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as Security+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or Kubernetes-related certifications.
Client-facing experience supporting secure solution delivery in government or regulated environments.
Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) operations, including Impact Level (IL) security requirements and Software Factory models.
