ServiceNow ITAM Solutions Engineer (HAM/SAM)

We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Asset Management (HAM/SAM) Developer to design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise Hardware and Software Asset Management capabilities and integrations. This fully remote role requires direct, hands‑on experience with both HAM and SAM functions in ServiceNow to ensure accurate lifecycle management, compliance, and data integrity. You will work closely with ITAM, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and other stakeholders to streamline asset processes and maximize value from hardware and software data.


Development & Configuration
• Design, develop, and customize ServiceNow HAM and SAM capabilities, including workflows, Flow Designer, client/server‑side scripts, UI policies, business rules, and custom applications
• Build and maintain full asset lifecycles for hardware and software—from procurement and deployment through maintenance, refresh, and retirement/disposal
• Configure SAM Pro entitlement rules, license models, reclamation workflows, and compliance mechanisms
• Develop Service Portal components for hardware/software requests, tracking, and reporting
• Ensure CMDB accuracy for hardware and software CIs, including relationships, CI attributes, and software‑installation data

Integrations
• Develop integrations between ServiceNow and external inventory tools, procurement systems, licensing sources, discovery tools, and financial systems
• Use REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, IntegrationHub spokes, and scripted APIs for secure, reliable data exchange

Process Improvement & Automation
• Collaborate with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, and Operations to define requirements and translate them into HAM/SAM technical solutions
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual asset intake, tracking, reconciliation, utilization, and retirement tasks
• Improve SAM processes for license optimization, vendor compliance, reclamation, and usage reporting

Support & Maintenance
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for ServiceNow HAM/SAM modules and integrations
• Perform platform health checks, tuning, and upgrade activities
• Support hardware and software inventory reconciliation and normalization

Documentation & Best Practices
• Produce design specifications, developer guides, and test plans
• Adhere to ServiceNow development standards, coding best practices, and security guidelines
• Participate in code reviews and platform governance


Required Qualifications
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (sponsorship available)
• 12+ years of relevant IT/ServiceNow experience (Bachelor’s degree may substitute 5 years)
• Demonstrated, hands‑on experience implementing and managing both HAM and SAM in ServiceNow
• Strong development background: JavaScript, client/server‑side scripting, Workflows, Flow Designer, UI Policies, Script Includes
• Solid understanding of ITAM principles, hardware/software lifecycles, licensing models, entitlements, compliance workflows
• Experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, SAM Pro, and ITSM/ITAM modules
• Integration experience with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and MID Servers
• Experience developing Service Portal components and custom UI features


Preferred Skills
• ServiceNow certifications: CAD, CIS‑ITAM, CSA
• ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation
• Experience with Discovery, Service Mapping, SAM Pro optimization
• Data reconciliation, migrations, normalization experience
• Background in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills and excellent communication abilities
