We are seeking a MUMPS / M Developer to support development and sustainment of enterprise applications built on MUMPS/M technologies. This role focuses on coding, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining MUMPS routines and related data-processing logic that support mission-critical healthcare and business workflows. The MUMPS / M Developer works with senior developers, testers, analysts, and functional stakeholders to implement reliable software changes, resolve defects, support release validation, and maintain stable production-facing applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Develop, modify, test, and maintain MUMPS/M routines and related application logic.

·         Analyze requirements, defects, and user-reported issues to determine needed code changes, data impacts, and validation steps.

·         Support application changes involving data validation, structured data exchange, interface-driven workflows, or transaction/message processing, including integrations with external systems, services, APIs, or downstream applications.

·         Review existing MUMPS/M code and data structures to understand business rules, dependencies, and downstream impacts.

·         Implement code fixes and enhancements consistent with established coding, testing, configuration, and release practices.

·         Troubleshoot application and production-support issues, perform root-cause analysis, validate fixes, and support controlled release or sustainment activities.

·         Support unit, functional, regression, and release validation testing; document results and assist with defect resolution.

·         Collaborate with senior developers, integration resources, testers, analysts, and functional SMEs to clarify requirements and validate outcomes.

·         Prepare technical notes, troubleshooting information, and implementation support information for builds and releases.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·         3+ years of hands-on MUMPS/M development experience.

·         Experience developing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting MUMPS/M routines in an enterprise or mission-critical application environment.

·         Knowledge of MUMPS/M routines, data structures, program flow, and application logic.

·         Ability to analyze existing code, identify defects, implement fixes, and validate code, data, and workflow impacts.

·         Familiarity with structured data exchange, interfaces, message-based workflows, batch processing, transaction processing, and external system/API integrations.

·         Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including requirements analysis, test support, defect resolution, configuration/change control, and release support.

·         Experience with code repositories, issue tracking, and clear technical documentation.

·         Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

·         Prior Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) experience, including VA VistA or other MUMPS/M-based healthcare systems, is highly desirable. Federal healthcare experience or experience supporting regulated healthcare transaction, pharmacy, ePrescribing, or message-processing environments is also beneficial.

·         Experience with controlled releases, production support, interface/API integrations, or comparable enterprise sustainment work is a plus.

EDUCATION:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

·         Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

WORK LOCATION:
