The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining curricula and presenting training material in the classroom and the lab for the AN/UPX-29(V) Maintenance Training Course.
The successful candidate will:
• Organize and draft curricula that break a complex subject into blocks or units of instruction.
• Create graphics and integrate them into curriculum.
• Teach short technical courses in accordance with approved curriculum to maintain proficiency and to evaluate and develop new instructional techniques/courses.
• Lead laboratory sessions with the goal of modeling practical troubleshooting techniques for US Navy and FMS technicians.
As professional system experts, AN/UPX-29(V) Maintenance Training Instructors are expected to have extensive Fleet experience with the maintenance of IFF systems, and all AN/UPX-29(V) instructors undergo a long certification process (usually taking a year or more) before being assessed as qualified to teach the course unsupervised.
Instructors are also expected to be working system technicians who will work on non-training activities such as technical assistance, system grooms, and lab maintenance.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least six years of related IFF (or similar radar system) experience
Some experience with training or curriculum development
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) of 1572/VO7B (Mark XII Maintainer), 1571/V06B (29 Maintenance) or equivalency from another service branch
NEC 9502/805A (Navy Instructor) or equivalency from another service branch
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
