Job Description

Overview

The Work:

The Battle Staff VTC Instructor is a key role in providing top-tier instruction to Sergeants through Sergeants Major, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to perform effectively as Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) at battalion and higher-level staff positions

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction to Sergeants through Sergeants Major to prepare them for roles as Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers at battalion and higher-level staff positions.
  • Deliver course content via Fort Carson Distance Learning Lab using Video Teleconference (VTC) technology.
  • Support the development and administration of practical exercises and final examinations.
  • Monitor and document the progress and attendance of a minimum of 35 students per course.
  • Maintain records of the progress and attendance of 16 senior noncommissioned officers.
  • Perform daily inventories of classroom equipment before and after each class session.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications - Here's What You Need:
  • Requires 2-3 years of experience in the relevant course discipline.
  • Certain courses may require specific certifications, dependent upon the discipline.
  • Preferred qualifications include expertise in Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 915A/91 series.
  • Must possess knowledge of all operating systems within GCSS-Army and Transportation systems (TC-AIMS).
  • Should have familiarity with Department of Defense data resources for logistical support (POIs).
  • Must maintain an active Army Knowledge Online (AKO) account and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Requires a Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Working Conditions:
  • Professional office environment, with the ability to work onsite in the main office.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
