Job Description

Innovien is seeking an experienced Aerodynamics Engineer to join our Flight Sciences team supporting the missile program. Backfilling a departed contractor, this seat owns complex aerodynamic analysis in silo egress and hypersonic flight environments with minimal oversight. This is not an entry-level analysis seat. Day to day, this individual scopes, runs, and interprets technically demanding external-flow analyses, predicting how the vehicle behaves as it leaves the silo and flies at hypersonic speeds, including the airflow, loads, venting, and acoustic environments the vehicle must survive. The manager needs someone self-sustaining who can walk in and take ownership in a discipline the team describes as a rarity in the current talent pool. The seat can be filled at the Senior (IC3) or Principal/Staff (IC4) level depending on the depth of the candidate's experience, with IC4 hires serving as the recognized technical authority and mentoring other engineers on the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys owning a meaningful piece of the vehicle's aerodynamic story and being the person the answer comes from.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 8+ years of aerodynamics/CFD experience (12+ for IC4), including hands-on CFD in one or more of Cart3D, Star-CCM+, Loci/CHEM, CFD++, HyperX, Transcode, or Seabarrow, since the entire role is producing and interpreting complex external-flow simulations and the team wants credible results in their toolset quickly
• Hypersonics and/or silo egress analysis experience, the rare, hard-to-find core of the seat and the reason the manager is restructuring the role around it (roughly 8-12 years relevant aerospace for IC3, 12-18+ for IC4)
• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex aerodynamic analyses end to end, since the manager needs someone self-sustaining who scopes and runs work with limited direction rather than needing senior review to function
• Python proficiency for analysis workflows and automation, because the team runs large CFD case sweeps and needs someone who can script rather than click through cases one at a time
• Experience across multiple CFD tools viewed favorably, since it shows the person understands the underlying aerodynamics rather than one program's buttons and can ramp onto the team's specific toolset fast
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related Engineering field; advanced degree a plus

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Direct launch vehicle aerodynamics experience
• Prior work on missile defense, silo-based, or hypersonic vehicle programs
• For IC4: a track record as the recognized technical authority owning the hardest analyses with no senior review, interfacing directly with program leadership on technical risk and trade-offs

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform silo egress aerodynamic analysis supporting the interceptor's launch phase.
• Conduct hypersonic flight environment analysis.
• Analyze ascent venting behavior during launch and flight.
• Evaluate loads and load indicators throughout flight.
• Perform vibroacoustics analysis.
• Conduct external flow analysis, aerodynamic and aero-thermal, not internal piping or turbomachinery flow.
• Scope, run, and interpret complex aerodynamic analyses independently with limited direction.
