The successful Principal/Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Network Integration candidate will join the Weapon System Integration (WSI) team under Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT), working on Network Systems Integration (NSI). Under the guidance of the Network Integration Lead, the selected candidate will support the NSI team which works to develop program-wide networking governance and standards, develop and/or synthesize network artifacts at the system level (including cross-segment network interfaces, program network architecture, and network documentation), perform program-wide gap assessments for network development, develop handling plans for any identified issues, and provide networking subject matter expertise to areas such as Major Program Event (MPE) reviews, modeling (architecture, simulation, analysis....), and requirements. NSI team purview includes the deliverable network architecture, incremental/test configs (lab networks), & ITF/MIF/VSFB test networks. This role is based in Roy, Utah.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Mentor under a senior network integrator, and be responsible for the integration of a subset of program networks
  • Integration/coordination with network SMEs across the program
  • Participate in frequent working groups to support iterative development
  • Influence network requirements and interfaces; translate program-level requirements into network-level deliverables
  • Assess the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure to include network design, architecture, specifications, cross-segment interfaces, and equipment selection per DoD requirements
  • Use Model-Based Systems Engineering practices to design, test, and verify network capabilities
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
  • Provide specific and detailed information for hardware and software selection as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
  • Recommend and implement system/process enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging Industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics while ensuring proper utilization where applicable
  • Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies
  • Exhibit good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers


Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer (Level 3)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 with Master's degree, or 1 with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Ability to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level II (Security + or higher) within 2 months of employment start
  • Familiarity with Model-Driven Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML in Cameo or Rhapsody)
  • Exposure to developing governance and standards
  • Experience with systems integration
  • 1+ years of experience with designing, architecting, or deploying complex network infrastructures
  • 1+ years of experience partnering cross-IPT/cross-discipline on a large-scale defense developmental program
  • 1+ years of experience working with requirements including authoring, allocating, tracing, interpreting, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development


Sr. Principal Engineer (Level 4):
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 with Master's degree, or 4 with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Ability to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level II (Security + or higher) within 2 months of employment start

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant technical specialty
  • TS//SCI clearance
  • Experience with ICBMs, Missile Programs, Command and Control, or Communications related programs
  • Experience implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods (including using SysML or UML in Cameo or Rhapsody)
  • Communication and leadership skills and experience leading small teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
  • Experience with technical reviews for large-scale and complex system development
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE Certification
  • Familiarity with DoD security frameworks, NIST 800-53, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet-AV, CAN-bus

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
