Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Patrick AFB, FL is searching for a Senior Systems Engineer for SYD 81 (NH-0801-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
Description:
You will join a dynamic leadership team delivering cutting-edge capabilities for the nation's newest military force. Delivering first of a kind human resources capabilities leveraging modern, commercial software products, the United States Space Force is leading the charge to modernize HR across the federal workforce. This is a high-visibility, high-impact program that will touch every Guardian's experience in the military and deliver of the USSF's mission to be a data-driven force. Your expert engineering and scientific leadership will ensure leadership incorporates achievable technical solutions as part of their cost, schedule, and performance trades.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position is a highly driven and motivated engineer with experience in cloud data management, data lake/service/stack development and implementation, cloud implementation, and operational software experience. The ideal candidate must have experience in reviewing and assessing cloud architectures, managing testing programs, delivering in an agile methodology, and data interface management. The candidate must work well with others across a dispersed team and communicate complex ideas, strategies, and work plans with clarity.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices,
standards, methods, and techniques to apply experimental theories and new developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods, and to plan and execute specialized programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and significance.
2. Knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
3. Knowledge of safety, security, and operational engineering procedures.
4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations as well as communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to expertly and effectively communicate, verbal, and written, formally (to include briefing) and informally across a broad spectrum of technical engineering disciplines.
6. Expert ability to plan, direct, and integrate the complex engineering and technical operations of a major Space Force sustainment program or portfolio.

Requirements

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive and/or classified information and/or files.
- Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually, thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- May be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / relocation funding is authorized and may be made available.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Position requires a professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred.
- The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
- This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP).
