Job Description

This position is onsite in Huntsville, AL. We do offer relocation assistance.

As an Environmental Test Engineer on NGI, you'll run the thermal cycles, thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and EMI tests that prove the interceptor will survive everything from launch loads to space cold to desert heat. You'll be in the lab on real flight hardware, not just writing plans. The team specifically wants someone who can do both: write the test plan AND execute it in the lab, knowing the gotchas that only come from time on the bench. The program is moving from design into qualification right now, which means this is the moment your work gets seen. This is your role if you've done environmental qualification on aerospace or defense hardware.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Hands-on lab experience executing environmental qualification tests at the unit, subsystem, or vehicle level on aerospace or defense hardware (strongly preferred); experience authoring test plans and procedures is also useful in the near term
• Direct experience with at least three of: thermal cycling, thermal vacuum (TVAC), random vibration, shock, or EMI testing
• Working knowledge of MIL-STD-810 (environmental engineering considerations) or MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC), or equivalent standards
• Experience authoring environmental test plans, procedures, and test reports
• Familiarity with thermal vacuum chambers, shaker tables, or anechoic chambers
• Active U.S. Secret clearance, U.S. Citizenship required
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering

PLUS SKILLS:
• Prior experience on missile, spacecraft, or aircraft qualification programs
• Background supporting vehicle-level integration and test campaigns through PDR/CDR into qualification
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or system-level integration test environments
• Lab leadership experience guiding junior test engineers and technicians
• Familiarity with shock response spectrum (SRS) analysis, vibration profile development, or modal analysis
• Experience supporting test failures, root cause analysis, and corrective action documentation
• Prior work with RCC documentation, range safety, or test range coordination

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan and execute environmental qualification tests at the unit, subsystem, and vehicle level
• Run thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and EMI tests on real flight hardware
• Author and maintain environmental test plans and procedures
• Identify and resolve issues that surface during qualification before they hit flight test
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and integration teams to support qualification timelines
• Document test results, failures, and corrective actions per program requirements
• Support the transition from design phase into formal qualification testing
