Analog Power Design Engineer

High Voltage | Undersea Systems

McLeansville, NC

Pay Estimated: $52.77 - $57.77/Hour

We are hiring an Analog Power Design Engineer to support the development of advanced undersea communication systems for defense applications. This electrical engineering role focuses on high-voltage DC (HVDC) power systems, power electronics, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, power system architecture, circuit card development, integration, verification, and troubleshooting, with hands-on use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and specialized laboratory test equipment.

This role supports requirements analysis, electrical design, system integration, verification, technical reviews, and root cause analysis while collaborating with engineering teams, project leaders, program managers, and external customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and implement electrical components, equipment, and systems for undersea communication applications.
  • Develop and analyze high-voltage DC power systems, power electronics, power transmission systems, and converter architectures.
  • Perform analog and mixed-signal circuit design, analysis, and instrumentation development.
  • Support power system architecture, grounding, feedback, and control system design.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, system design, integration, verification, and technical review activities.
  • Develop specifications, technical requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components.
  • Perform circuit card analysis and review electrical schematics to support design, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory testing using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other specialized electronic test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical systems by systematically isolating component- and circuit-level failures and performing root cause analysis.
  • Support research and development (R&D), design architecture, assembly approaches, component selection, and electronics design improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, project leaders, program managers, and external customers.
  • Identify opportunities to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to engineering processes for continuous improvement and innovation.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, concepts, and theories.
  • Experience with electrical engineering computer-aided design (CAD) tools and mixed-signal circuit analysis and design.
  • Circuit design expertise, including analog design, instrumentation, and circuit analysis.
  • Experience with feedback and control systems.
  • Experience with power system architecture and grounding.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting capability, including sequential isolation of component- and circuit-level failures.
  • Hands-on experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other specialized laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience developing specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and analyzing circuit card schematics.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
  • Experience designing high-voltage DC power systems and power modules.
  • Experience with multiple power converter topologies ranging from a few watts through kilowatt-plus (kW+) converters.
  • Experience with high-voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics, and HVDC technology.
  • Research and Development (R&D) experience involving emerging electrical or electronics technologies.
  • Experience leading electrical design activities for complex engineering projects.
