We are hiring an Engineering Support Specialist to support electrical and mechanical hardware integration for complex, mission-critical defense systems. This role supports prototype and pre-production builds, cable and wire harness assembly, chassis integration, circuit board rework, soldering, and hardware troubleshooting within a cross-functional engineering environment and requires the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Engineering Support Specialist

We are hiring an Engineering Support Specialist to support electrical and mechanical hardware integration for complex, mission-critical defense systems. This role supports prototype and pre-production builds, cable and wire harness assembly, chassis integration, circuit board rework, soldering, and hardware troubleshooting within a cross-functional engineering environment and requires the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Support Electrical and Mechanical Engineering during prototype and pre-production hardware builds for mission-critical systems.
- Build and integrate cables, cable harnesses, wiring, chassis, system components, and subsystem components.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, designs, and interconnect documentation.
- Use hand tools and specialized assembly tools to complete hardware builds and system/subsystem integration.
- Identify potential design, integration, manufacturability, or build issues and provide feedback before production.
- Perform circuit board rework in accordance with documented rework instructions.
- Replace surface-mount and through-hole electronic components.
- Complete white-wire additions and other specified circuit board modifications.
- Support hardware development activities throughout applicable phases of the program lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
- Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings, designs, and interconnect documentation.
- Experience using hand tools to assemble and integrate cables, wiring, chassis, systems, and subsystem hardware.
- Ability to follow circuit board rework instructions involving surface-mount components, through-hole components, and white-wire additions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification.
- Experience soldering electronic components using a microscope.
- Experience using pin-and-socket crimp tools.
- Familiarity with military-style electrical connectors, including D38999 connectors.
- Understanding of the hardware development process across the program lifecycle.
- Experience identifying and resolving hardware integration, assembly, and build issues.
