Standard Job Description
The HWIL IT&E Engineer (E4) provides senior-level technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of real-time, closed-loop Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) test-bed capabilities that focus on integrated test and evaluation (IT&E) of air-vehicle software, firmware, and hardware. With 5+ years of relevant experience, you will operate with limited direction, set technical strategy, and influence program-wide decisions while serving as the primary technical liaison to senior government and industry stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
• Define and evolve the IT&E architecture for HWIL test-beds, establishing standards for real-time simulation, stimulus generation, data acquisition, and timing synchronization.
• Influence budget and schedule decisions; provide estimates and resource plans for IT&E subsystem development and test.
• Design, develop, and validate stimulation and measurement solutions (signal generators, DAQ, FPGA-based stimulators, high-speed I/O).
• Direct integration efforts, oversee debugging, timing alignment, and capability verification in real-time simulations.
• Translate mission-level test objectives into HWIL test cases and back-log items.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and analysts, conduct technical reviews, and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Promote best-practice documentation and training on IT&E tools and processes.
• Identify and implement process, tool, and automation enhancements to increase simulation fidelity, test efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
• Drive adoption of advanced design tools (signal-integrity analysis, high-frequency simulation, automated test generation).

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, or related STEM field.
- 5+ years of experience in HWIL integration, IT&E, real - time simulation, or comparable high - fidelity test - bed environments.
- Strong knowledge of digital, analog, and mixed - signal electronics; Extensive hands - on experience with electronic test equipment
- Proven ability to present technical briefings to senior leadership and government customers; produce clear, concise documentation and test reports.
- Demonstrated success working in multidisciplinary environments and leading small technical teams.
- Active Secret Security clearance
Desired Skills
- Experience with real - time operating systems, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, and scripting languages (Python/C++) for test automation.
- Knowledge of Lockheed Martin and industry best practices for HWIL IT&E development.
- Experience coordinating test support with government customers and managing technical contracts.
- Experience in RF, high - speed digital design, real - time operating systems, and/or high performance computing.
- Experience designing, integrating and operating real - time closed - loop HWIL simulators, FPGA - based stimulus generators, and high - speed DAQ systems.
- Proficiency in Missile 6 - DOF simulation, sensor model integration, and timing synchronization techniques.
