Job Description

Position Summary

The Space & Missile Defense Business Development Manager at Odyssey is responsible for building relationships with potential customers, gaining access to new markets, identifying new business opportunities, shaping pursuits, managing relationships with current customers, supporting associated marketing strategies, working closely with capture managers and the broader business development team, and developing and executing business development strategies on behalf of the company.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Conducting research to identify market trends related to Odyssey's expertise and areas of interest;
  • Working with Operations to leverage growth opportunities;
  • Working with the Technical Center to maintain an understanding of corporate technical capabilities;
  • Leading early-stage gate reviews;
  • Maintaining a BD pipeline;
  • Fostering long-term business relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors;
  • Leveraging relationships with industry partners to identify best opportunities;
  • Initiating contact with teaming partners and developing work arrangements;
  • Forming teaming strategies to optimize win probability;
  • Obtaining intelligence information on potential customers, teaming partners, vendors, and competitors;
  • Attending symposiums, industry days, and other relevant events;
  • Bringing a strategic mindset when analyzing business opportunities; and
  • Leading regular business development and/or pipeline review meetings.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Clearance: Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Technical Discipline , or relevant military, government or business experience .

Years of Experience: 3-5 years Business Development or Capture experience in DoD services companies, preferably supporting Space and Missile Defense customers and markets.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clearance: Active Top Secret

Education: Master's Degree in a business field

Certifications: Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) or Shipley certification.

Experience : 10+ years of Military or federal civil serv ice experience strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and closing new business in similar organizations to Odyssey using consultative and collaborative multi-discipline team approach.
  • Strong understanding of requirements shaping and acquisition/procurement process within the DoD with specific focus on Space and Missile Defense related organizations.
  • Strong familiarity with Space and Missile Defense customer base, industrial base and/or user communities supporting acquisition, development, testing, integration sustainment and requirements development activities at key hub location.
  • Recent track record of winning Space and Missile Defense programs.


Additional Information

Locatio n: Hybrid, ideally from a major Fleet concentration area (San Diego, Groton, Tidewater), the greater Washington DC area, or near an Odyssey corporate office.

Travel: 25-60 %

Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid: Hybrid. This position should physically be in Los Angeles/El Segundo or the Space Coast - Florida

Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
