Where You’ll Work:
The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state-of-the-art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private-sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About the Role:
Provide CNS Mission Engineering with full-time electrical design engineering support in Y-12 Facility Design for facility and production area activities needed to expedite the closure of Change Requests for Configuration Managed systems that have been returned to service for longer than 90 days.

Responsibilities:
• The Engineer must have familiarity with and experience in developing design output in accordance with CNS and consensus national standards (ie. NFPA 70/ National Electrical Code, ASME, etc.).
• Experience in NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable along with an understanding of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Operations for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various production and support organizations.
• Review Change Requests (CRs) for systems that have been Returned to Service (RTS) >90days that have not been closed.
• Identify the Affected Documents associated with CRs RTS that need to be revised to reflect the work covered by the CR.
• Perform walkdowns as needed to verify that the work covered by the CRs has been performed.
• Review and compare information shown on Affected Documents to work defined by the CRs.
• Prepare redline markups of Affected Documents to reflect the incorporation of the work covered by the CRs.
• Provide the redlined copy of the Affected Documents to drafting personnel for incorporation onto the Parent CM document.
• Provide check/verification that Affected Documents reflect incorporation of CR information correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• Requires an ABET accredited BS Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline plus 10 or more years of relevant professional experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Location/Work Arrangement:
• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
• Typical work schedule will be Mon.-Thur. 10-hour days (4/10 schedule).
