Location: Bern, Switzerland

Position Overview

Futron is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead and coordinate daily field operations for construction projects in Bern, Switzerland. The Superintendent will effectively and collaboratively plan, coordinate, and supervise field teams, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project quality standards.

The Superintendent will lead the planning, layout, and installation of construction work while coordinating labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractor activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the daily efforts of field personnel under supervision.

  • Lead the planning, layout, and installation of construction work.

  • Perform or understand the essential functions of field workers under the Superintendent's direction.

  • Manage daily work activities of field labor and construction crews.

  • Develop weekly work plans and monitor progress against project schedules.

  • Coordinate labor and material requirements to support project timelines.

  • Manage project tools, equipment, and field resources.

  • Maintain purchased materials in an organized, secure, and clean manner.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly job site.

  • Ensure project quality control goals are achieved and maintain a strong focus on quality assurance.

  • Enforce safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.

  • Plan, assign, and direct work activities in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.

  • Address field personnel concerns, complaints, and issues and work toward effective resolutions.

  • Coordinate with the Construction Project Manager, Director of Construction, and customer representatives as required.

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, plans, and specifications.

  • Coordinate multiple construction activities and ensure work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Assist with forecasting and projecting labor requirements and final labor costs.

  • Provide field leadership throughout all applicable phases of construction, including site work, utilities, foundations, structural work, metal studs, drywall, finishes, and related activities.



Education & Experience


  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory field experience in the applicable construction discipline.

  • Candidates should have 5–10 years of related construction experience, education, and/or training.

  • Resume must clearly identify the candidate's area of practice, such as:

    • Civil

    • Structural

    • Mechanical

    • Electrical

    • Materials

    • Finishes

    • Other applicable construction disciplines



  • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards.

  • Experience leading construction crews and coordinating field operations.

  • Federal contracting experience preferred.



Required Qualifications


  • Top Secret security clearance required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively lead construction crews and coordinate with project leadership and customer representatives.

  • Ability to plan and coordinate labor and material requirements.

  • Thorough understanding of construction drawings and blueprint reading.

  • Working knowledge of all major phases of construction.

  • Ability to recognize and achieve quality workmanship.

  • Ability to coordinate and complete multiple activities within established timelines.

  • Knowledge of construction industry safety procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under demanding project conditions.



Preferred Qualifications


  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

  • Federal contracting experience.

  • Experience working on OCONUS construction projects.



Software Proficiency


  • Microsoft Office Suite



Working Conditions


This is an onsite position in Bern, Switzerland. The position will primarily be performed in a construction site environment and may require working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.


The position requires the ability to climb ladders, work overhead, operate or work from lifts, and lift or move construction equipment and materials. Employees may occasionally work at heights or in precarious locations and may be exposed to wet or humid conditions.


The position regularly requires lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities may include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


The Superintendent must be able to remain calm and professional in highly stressful situations, handle criticism constructively, maintain composure, and demonstrate persistence when facing obstacles and challenges.
