Job Description:
The Snowflake Analyst is responsible for reverse engineering existing data solutions, translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications, and enabling seamless integration of SAP S/4HANA data into enterprise data products. This role bridges architecture, data engineering, and business analysis by deeply understanding source system structures and transforming them into optimized Snowflake based models.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyze existing data products, pipelines, and data models to reverse engineer solution logic, dependencies, and transformation rules.
• Work with SAP functional and technical teams to understand SAP S/4HANA data structures (tables, CDS views, IDocs, APIs, etc.) and map them into Snowflake models.
• Design and document functional specifications and detailed technical specifications for integrating SAP S/4HANA data into Snowflake and downstream data products.
• Evaluate SAP source data for quality, completeness, and alignment with business reporting needs.
• Collaborate with architects and data engineers to define ingestion frameworks, staging layers, data transformations, and semantic models.
• Translate business use cases into robust data requirements, ensuring consistency across enterprise data domains.
• Prepare lineage documentation, data dictionaries, mapping documents, and interface specifications.
• Support testing efforts by defining test scenarios, validating data transformations, and troubleshooting data issues across the ingestion pipelines.
• Recommend improvements to existing Snowflake models, warehouse configurations, and transformation logic based on findings from reverse engineering activities.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security policies, and best practices for SAP/Snowflake integration.

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong proficiency with Snowflake (warehousing concepts, schema design, performance optimization, SQL).
• Experience interpreting SAP S/4 data structures, including modules such as FI/CO, MM, SD, or PP.
• Ability to read and understand SAP metadata from tables, CDS views, SAP extractors, or SAP BW artifacts.
• Knowledge of ELT/ETL frameworks, data modeling concepts, and data pipeline architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to reverse engineer existing datasets, views, or dashboards.
• High competency in writing detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross functional SAP/Data Engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior work in large enterprise SAP landscapes.
• Understanding of cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP), particularly Snowflake native services.
Education/Experience: Typically requires a degree in Technology, Engineering or Data Science unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
