Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer I to support NIWC Pacific's Information Technology Management Support Services program in San Diego, CA. This role focuses on the development, integration, and maintenance of mission-critical applications and services supporting Department of Defense operations. The ideal candidate has experience developing secure software solutions using modern programming languages and DevSecOps practices within an Agile environment.
Work Environment:
100% on-site role in San Diego, CA supporting NIWC Pacific mission systems. This position works closely with software engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders within a collaborative Agile development environment.

Work Environment:

Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications using Python, JavaScript, and other modern programming languages .
- Design and support REST APIs, SOAP services, and GraphQL interfaces .
- Implement secure coding practices and support software development in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Contribute to DevSecOps, CI/CD, Agile Scrum, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) initiatives.
- Design and maintain database schemas, application architectures, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot software issues and optimize system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in software testing, code reviews, and deployment activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
- Experience developing software applications using Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of API development, database design, and enterprise application architecture.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Certifications & Requirements:
- Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification required, including one of the following:
- Security+
- CySA+
- SSCP
- GSEC
- GICSP
- CCNA Security
Clearance Requirement:
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $125,000 - $135,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
