Overview:
Performs safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety program enforcement for contractor operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections and safety enforcement.
- Develops, implements, coordinates, and enforces the Project Safety Plan and Accident Prevention Plan.
- Conducts safety training and meetings as required and necessary.
- Maintains and administers the company's safety plan and ensure safe warehouse practices.
- Creates Activity Hazard Analyses prior to each activity or definable feature of work.
- Directs contractor personnel relative to safety issues or concerns.
- Procures and distributes safety gear for Olgoonik's workforce.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
Education and/or Experience:
- Possess 5 years' experience as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist on projects involving the construction of large concrete commercial/residential buildings, and or heavy highway and road or concrete work.
- Possess First-Aid-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements.
- Completed the 30-hour OSHA construction safety class.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 5 years related experience required.
- Qualified/cognizant to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and implement corrective action through activity/worker hazard analysis, worker training, proactive oversight of operations to abate or reduce potential safety and health hazards and dangerous environmental exposures.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
- Possess knowledge and familiarity with all sections in the latest edition of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements Manual EM385-1.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Possession of a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)certificate from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or be able to obtain the STS within 6 months.
- 30 Hour OSHA Safety Class or equivalent within the last 5 years is required.
Security Clearance:
Secret Clearance Level Required
- Must have a current US Government Secret Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must also be able to maintain a US Government Secret clearance.
