Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI) to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer. This position will serve as a senior engineer responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise with Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), VMware vSphere, endpoint management, automation, and secure enterprise desktop solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools
· Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms
· Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience
· Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency
· Perform pre-production testing and validation of VDI image updates, patches, configuration changes, and monitor VDI performance
· Ensure VDI environments comply with DoD security requirements, including DISA STIG implementation
· Collaborate with systems, network, cybersecurity, and customer teams to support mission objectives
Required Qualifications:
· Active TS/SCI clearance required
· Bachelor’s degree
· 8+ years of systems engineering or related experience
· Current CompTIA Security+ certification required
· Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) hosted on VMware vSphere
· Experience managing thin-client environments, including Dell Wyse or similar platforms
· Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
· Knowledge of Group Policy (GPO) management within VDI environments
· Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements
· Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools
Work Location:
· On-site in Newington, VA
· Less than 10% travel required
Compensations:
Salary Range: Up to $175,000 depending on experience
