Supervisory Police Officer

Duties

• Responsible for administering and supervising a staff comprised of patrol supervisors, military police patrols, DA police supervisors, military police investigators, traffic accident investigators and desk sergeants.
• Serves as supervisor of military, civilians and local national.
• Exercises knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in carrying out work of the organization.
• Applies procedures and practices within the framework of established law enforcement guidelines.
• Carries out assignments independently and exercises leadership in maintaining law and order within the guidelines of the DES mission.
• Ensures the security of foreign diplomats, dignitaries, high ranking military and elected U.S. government officials.
• Supervises day-to-day patrol operations of subordinate assigned patrol areas.
• Monitors DA police work performance to include reviewing the blotter, daily staff journal, patrol and military police reports.
• Issues violation notices to violators and prepares police reports.

• Incumbent must meet all the certification requirements listed in Army Regulation 190-56 for Army Civilian Police Officers; Incumbent must successfully graduate from an academy accredited by the U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS).
• Incumbent must remain qualified for Individual Reliability Program (IRP), will continuously be evaluated to determine character, trustworthiness and fitness are consistent with high standards of conduct expected of a law enforcement professionals.
• Incumbent is required to wear the DACP/SG uniform and to maintain a-high state of appearance and hygiene. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment in case of hazardous/chemical incident (respirators, safety glasses, etc.).
• Incumbent must successfully complete semi-annual qualification with assigned service weapon(s).
• This position is covered by the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
• This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and maintain a level of fitness to physically perform the position.
• This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug test and random drug testing in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85.
• This position requires a valid, state-issued and USAREUR Driver's License and must be insurable in order to travel to other locations in the Command's structure.
• This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
• This position may require you to work planned and/or unscheduled overtime and/or shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/first aid techniques.
• This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with Federal, State, municipal, local law enforcement agencies for the protection of personnel property against hazards as fire, theft, damage, accidents or trespass; AND 2) Overseeing day-to-day operations of law and order functions; directing staff through subordinate supervisors/shift leaders in a police organization; AND 3) Assisting in formulating long-range operating plans based on assigned mission and functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

• Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location.
• Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
• Incentives may be approved based off agency rules and regulations.
• Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
