Apex Systems is currently hiring for an Enterprise Systems Architect / Technical Integration Lead with a large federal client to support a large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise environment at Fort Meade, Maryland. This individual will provide technical leadership, strategic planning, architecture development, systems engineering guidance, and enterprise integration support across complex communications, networking, cloud, and data center environments.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience supporting mission-critical DoD systems, developing enterprise architectures, advising senior leadership, and driving modernization initiatives across both legacy and emerging technology platforms.


Project Details / Mission Supported:
• Provide technical leadership and strategic recommendations for enterprise IT operational design, systems engineering, and architecture initiatives.
• Analyze existing environments and recommend future-state architecture solutions aligned to organizational objectives and mission requirements.
• Develop enterprise system architectures, technical designs, integration strategies, and implementation roadmaps.
• Support modernization efforts involving cloud technologies, enterprise communications systems, network infrastructure, and data center services.
• Review and contribute to technical proposals, engineering documentation, architectural assessments, and technology recommendations.
• Identify communication service requirements and translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Support both legacy and future-state technologies while ensuring alignment with DCDC leadership vision and strategic objectives.
• Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network, infrastructure, and system issues across enterprise environments.
• Develop executive-level briefings, strategic reports, roadmaps, and technical recommendations for senior leadership.
• Provide technical consultation to engineers, architects, operational teams, and government stakeholders.
• Support large-scale enterprise initiatives leveraging Agile, SAFe, and ITIL service management methodologies.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure mission alignment, operational effectiveness, and successful technology adoption.

Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
• Working knowledge of Joint Publication (JP) 5-0 and enterprise-level strategic planning methodologies.
• Experience designing and developing enterprise architectures, technical solutions, systems engineering strategies, integration plans, and technology modernization roadmaps.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership across operational design, architecture, engineering, technical documentation, and proposal evaluations.
• Demonstrated success aligning enterprise technology solutions with mission requirements and executive leadership objectives.
• Strong knowledge of LAN, CAN, WAN, hybrid cloud environments, enterprise communications systems, data centers, server infrastructure, and large-scale networking architectures.
• Hands-on experience with IaaS, PaaS, cloud migration initiatives, systems integration, and enterprise infrastructure modernization efforts.
• Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving complex infrastructure, systems, and network-related issues within enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of DoD enterprise services, cybersecurity controls, communications platforms, network protection technologies, and data security best practices supporting mission-critical operations.
• Working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and ITIL 4 service management principles.
• Experience supporting and modernizing multiple large-scale enterprise IT environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience developing and delivering executive briefings, strategic recommendations, and technical presentations for General Officers, Senior Executives, and key decision-makers.
• Proven experience authoring and reviewing CONOPS, technical documentation, engineering artifacts, training plans, strategic reports, and executive-level briefings.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively within fast-paced DoD environments.

Location: Ft. Meade, MD
Onsite expectation: On-site 5 days a week
Clearance Level: TS/SCI
Salary/Pay range: 70-80/hr
