Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO) / IT Systems Engineer to serve as the Classified Information Security Lead for the organization. This role is based at the Arlington campus and is responsible for the management and protection of classified information at the Secret and Top Secret levels.
The ideal candidate will be a U.S. citizen with an active Top Secret (TS) clearance and SCI eligibility. This individual will ensure full compliance with federal regulations governing the handling, storage, transmission, and protection of classified national security information while maintaining the overall security posture of both classified and unclassified systems.
In this role, you will oversee cybersecurity compliance, develop and maintain required security documentation (such as system security plans), and execute contract-specific security requirements. You will support legal proceedings, government-sponsored initiatives, and research operations, ensuring adherence to both institutional and contractual obligations.
This position works across diverse research programs and classification environments, many of which involve non-standard computing systems. Success in this role requires the ability to balance end-user needs, sponsor requirements, and contract milestones while supporting proposals, ongoing projects, and new program launches.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship required
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility
Strong understanding of federal regulations related to classified information security
Experience maintaining security posture for classified and unclassified systems
Proven ability to manage cybersecurity compliance and security documentation
Ability to operate effectively in dynamic research environments with non-standard systems
Strong coordination skills to support users, sponsors, and contract deliverables
