Position Summary

The Ammunition Manager/Handler is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient management of ammunition and explosives supporting the 434th Field Artillery Brigade and other training activities at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. This position oversees and executes ammunition receipt, storage, inventory management, transportation, issue, accountability, and turn-in operations in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Army, and local installation regulations.

The successful candidate will ensure continuous operational readiness by maintaining strict ammunition accountability, enforcing explosive safety standards, and supporting artillery training missions, field exercises, and mobilization requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Ammunition Operations Management

• Receive, inspect, document, store, issue, and turn in ammunition and explosives.
• Maintain accountability and inventory records for all ammunition transactions.
• Coordinate ammunition requirements with unit leadership, range control, and supporting agencies.
• Conduct stock inspections and inventory reconciliations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor ammunition storage areas and ensure proper segregation, compatibility, and security of ammunition assets.
• Execute ammunition forecasting, scheduling, and distribution plans in support of training exercises.

Transportation and Distribution

• Load, unload, transport, and deliver ammunition to designated training ranges and field locations.
• Operate military and commercial vehicles used for ammunition transportation.
• Ensure all ammunition transport operations comply with applicable hazardous material regulations.
• Conduct pre-trips, post-trip, and preventive maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles and equipment.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Army regulations, explosive safety standards, and installation SOPs.
• Conduct ammunition inspections prior to issue and after turn-in.
• Report, document, and assist with investigations involving ammunition discrepancies, incidents, or safety concerns.
• Enforce ammunition handling procedures that mitigate risk to personnel, equipment, and government property.
• Support safety inspections, command inspections, and operational readiness evaluations .

Administrative and Accountability Functions

• Maintain ammunition inventory records, transportation documentation, and accountability reports.
• Prepare reports detailing ammunition expenditures, shortages, turn-ins, and stockage levels.
• Utilize automated logistics and ammunition management systems when required.
• Support audits and inspections by maintaining accurate and complete records.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in ammunition handling, ammunition management, military logistics, or related field.
• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement.
• Knowledge of Army Ammunition Management and accountability procedures.
• Familiarity with ammunition storage, transportation, and explosive safety requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain military vehicle operator qualifications.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and inventory accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior military experience in Ammunition Specialist (89B), Logistics, Transportation, or related MOS.
• Experience supporting artillery training operations and ammunition supply points (ASP).
• Experience operating tactical military vehicles, including HMMWVs and FMTVs.
• Working knowledge of ATP 4-35.1 and related ammunition management regulations.
• Experience supporting Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) or Field Artillery training environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and field environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including Kevlar and safety gear.
• Ability to safely maneuver and operate military vehicles and handling equipment.

Job Information

• Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
• Work Location: Fort Sill, Oklahoma
• Salary Range: $62,000 - $67,000
