Job Description

Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Accessibility (508) Engineer to support KABS and our government customer in Washington, DC. The position is hybrid, requires 1 day onsite. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Accessibility (508) Engineer to support the Digital Workplace workforce by ensuring applications, platforms, documents, and digital services are designed, developed, tested, and remediated for accessibility. The successful candidate will provide senior technical guidance on Section 508, WCAG, accessible engineering practices, assistive technology testing, and remediation across enterprise delivery teams. Work will be performed at the client's facility or customer approved remote locations during Eastern Time core business hours.

The Senior Accessibility (508) Engineer will lead accessibility engineering, testing, advisory, and remediation activities for Digital Workplace platforms and products.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Perform accessibility assessments against Section 508, WCAG 2.x, and applicable federal digital accessibility requirements.
  • Lead manual and automated accessibility testing for web applications, platform workflows, documents, dashboards, and user interfaces.
  • Provide engineering guidance to developers, designers, product owners, QA analysts, and platform teams on accessible implementation patterns.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and validate remediation of accessibility defects across components, templates, forms, and workflows.
  • Develop accessibility test plans, acceptance criteria, defect reports, conformance evidence, and remediation recommendations.
  • Support accessibility governance, training, reusable standards, and review checkpoints within Agile and release processes.
  • Use assistive technologies and accessibility tools to validate user experience for people with disabilities.


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Systems, Digital Accessibility, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in accessibility engineering, front-end development, quality assurance, or digital compliance.
  • Hands-on experience testing and remediating digital products for Section 508 and WCAG conformance.

Desired:
  • IAAP CPACC, WAS, CPWA, DHS Trusted Tester, or comparable accessibility certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government digital services or regulated enterprise environments.
  • Experience creating accessibility governance practices, standards, and training materials.


Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Expert understanding of Section 508, WCAG 2.x, ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard access, focus management, forms, color contrast, and document accessibility.
  • Experience using screen readers and testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, axe, ANDI, Lighthouse, or comparable tools.
  • Ability to diagnose root causes of accessibility defects and provide practical remediation guidance to engineering teams.
  • Experience writing accessibility test plans, defect reports, acceptance criteria, and conformance evidence.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to advise teams without slowing delivery.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.


Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Atlassian, Microsoft 365, Power BI, SharePoint, or enterprise workflow platforms.
  • Knowledge of accessible design systems, reusable component libraries, and automated accessibility checks in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting VPAT/ACR evidence collection or accessibility governance boards.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, user-centered design, and usability testing with assistive technology users.
