Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Scott AFB, Illinois
Job Responsibilities
Trace Systems is seeking a DevOps Engineer to modernize EACN network and systems workflows through automation. The engineer will build and sustain automation tools, CI/CD capabilities, lab environments, and Python integrations that improve reliability and reduce manual effort. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
In compliance with applicable state and local pay transparency requirements, the following compensation information is provided for this position. The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum compensation Trace reasonably expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.
Salary Minimum: $90,000
Salary Maximum: $115,000

Trace Systems is seeking a DevOps Engineer to modernize EACN network and systems workflows through automation. The engineer will build and sustain automation tools, CI/CD capabilities, lab environments, and Python integrations that improve reliability and reduce manual effort. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and remove repetitive operational toil through automation.
- Advocate for modern engineering practices and help teams transition legacy workflows.
- Create and maintain network and systems automation tools.
- Automate provisioning and upgrades of network routers and switches.
- Maintain and improve the network CI/CD pipeline using GitLab CI and EVE-NG.
- Develop ad hoc Python scripts that interact with network APIs.
- Automate lab environments and maintain development, test, and production environments.
- Assist network and systems engineers with daily workflows, testing, troubleshooting, and controlled deployments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 632 Systems Developer, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
- Qualifying credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
- Qualifying certifications may include CSSLP, GCLD, GSEC, other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
- 3+ years of DevOps, network automation, software development, or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Current Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
- Experience with Python, Git, GitLab CI/CD, network APIs, infrastructure automation, and test environments.
Desired Qualification
- Experience with EVE-NG, Cisco platforms, Ansible, automated testing, configuration management, EACN, or A2G2.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices in classified or DoD environments.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
- Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
