Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Programmer to support precision machining operations within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used to manufacture complex components on 5-axis machining centers.
The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-axis programming, machining strategies, tooling selection, precision manufacturing practices, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T. Experience with CAD/CAM software, tooling optimization, feeds and speeds, and precision inspection methods is highly preferred.

In addition to programming responsibilities, this individual will work closely with engineering, quality, machining, and production teams to ensure components are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.

Compensation
• $45.00 - $55.00/hour
• $10,000 sign-on bonus to assist with relocation
• Overtime opportunities available

Work Schedule
• Monday through Thursday
• Four 10-hour shifts per week (4x10 schedule)
• Overtime as required based on production demands

Primary Duties

CNC Programming, Machine Operation & Setup
• Program and operate 5-axis CNC machining centers to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances
• Perform machine setups including:
◦ Tooling installation
◦ Fixture setup
◦ Workholding configuration
◦ Offset adjustments
• Load, verify, and validate CNC programs to ensure proper machining parameters and material selections
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity

Production & Quality Assurance
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, technical specifications, and work instructions
• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
• Utilize calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify dimensional compliance
• Ensure all parts meet aerospace quality standards and engineering tolerances
• Document and report nonconforming material or parts according to established quality procedures

Process Optimization & Troubleshooting
• Diagnose machining issues including tool wear, chatter, offsets, and programming concerns
• Implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing problems
• Optimize feeds, speeds, and toolpaths to improve quality, efficiency, and cycle times
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on machining performance and operational efficiency

Maintenance & Safety
• Perform routine preventative maintenance including lubrication, coolant checks, and machine cleaning
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow OSHA regulations, company safety requirements, and aerospace manufacturing standards

Collaboration & Documentation
• Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining-related issues
• Accurately complete job travelers, ERP transactions, and production documentation
• Support the training and development of junior CNC programmers when required

Required Qualifications

Education
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Technical certification preferred

Experience
• 2-5+ years of experience programming and operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
• Experience independently performing machine setups
• Experience utilizing precision measuring instruments for part inspection and validation

Technical Capabilities

• 5-axis CNC programming and operation
• Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
• GD&T application and understanding
• Precision measurement and inspection techniques

• Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously when required

Preferred Background
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, G-Code programming, and Mastercam
• Experience machining aluminum, composites, and aerospace-grade alloys
• Post-processor development experience

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (8-10+ hours per shift)
• Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision-based work
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and balance as required
• Ability to communicate effectively, including speaking and hearing
• Ability to work around large machinery, equipment, and tooling
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to safely work near moving machinery and mechanical equipment
• Ability to work in confined or restricted-access spaces when needed
• Ability to work in environments that may contain airborne particles, fumes, carbon fiber materials, and other manufacturing materials
• Comfortable working in a production environment with machinery, noise, and varying temperatures

Relocation Package
Candidates relocating to Midland, Texas may be eligible for:
• $10,000 sign-on bonus to assist with relocation expenses
