Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Metrology Team Lead to support dimensional inspection, alignment, and verification activities on complex satellite hardware and assemblies. This position utilizes precision measurement technologies such as Laser Trackers, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Portable CMM systems (Romer Arms), and 3D scanning equipment to ensure components and assemblies meet engineering requirements.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise with Spatial Analyzer (SA) software and working knowledge of PC-DMIS while performing precision measurement activities in a high-accuracy manufacturing environment.

In addition to technical responsibilities, this individual will provide daily leadership to the metrology team by coordinating priorities, assigning work, and ensuring measurement tasks are completed accurately and efficiently in support of production objectives.

Compensation
• $105,000 - $120,000; dependent on education and experience
• Overtime opportunities available

Work Schedule
• Monday through Thursday
• 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Paid lunch and break periods included

Leadership Responsibilities
The Metrology Team Lead will oversee daily work execution and scheduling activities through Jira or similar project-tracking systems.

Key responsibilities include:
• Evaluating and prioritizing incoming measurement requests based on production demands
• Delegating assignments across the metrology team to maintain workflow efficiency
• Organizing overtime coverage, including weekday and weekend support when required
• Working with off-shift personnel and third-party metrology resources to maintain uninterrupted operations
• Communicating project status, priorities, concerns, and risks to Quality leadership
This position serves as an important link between manufacturing, quality, and metrology teams to drive productivity and maintain inspection accuracy.

Primary Duties

Dimensional Measurement & Alignment
• Conduct precision measurement and alignment activities on large-scale assemblies utilizing:
o Laser Tracker systems
o Romer Arms and other Portable CMM equipment
o Traditional CMM and 3D scanning technologies as needed
• Verify compliance of assemblies against engineering drawings, CAD data, and GD&T requirements
• Perform alignment and dimensional validation on critical hardware assemblies

Metrology Systems & Software
• Use Spatial Analyzer (SA) software to perform:
o Data acquisition
o Alignment activities
o Deviation and comparison analysis
• Program and operate inspection equipment while maintaining repeatable, high-accuracy results
• Ensure measurement records meet quality traceability requirements

Data Evaluation & Quality Support
• Review measurement results to identify dimensional discrepancies and nonconforming conditions
• Prepare detailed inspection reports for engineering and quality stakeholders
• Assist with root cause investigations and corrective action efforts

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve measurement-related issues
• Provide technical guidance on metrology methods and inspection strategies
• Support production schedules through timely completion of measurement activities

Continuous Improvement & Compliance
• Maintain compliance with:
o ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
o ISO 17025 principles
o Internal quality management procedures
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve inspection accuracy and process efficiency

Required Qualifications

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or technical training preferred

Experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of direct experience operating Laser Tracker equipment
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience using Spatial Analyzer (SA) software
• 3-5+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, dimensional inspection, or precision measurement

Preferred Background
• Aerospace or satellite manufacturing experience
• Experience performing alignment work on large-scale structures
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements
• Familiarity with PC-DMIS software

Physical Requirements
• Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
• Ability to perform repetitive and precision hand movements
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb, and balance as necessary to perform job duties
• Ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment
• Comfortable working around large equipment, tooling, and assemblies
• Ability to lift, carry, or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work near operating machinery and mechanical equipment
• Ability to access confined or restricted work areas when necessary
• Ability to work in environments that may contain airborne particles, fumes, or specialty manufacturing materials such as carbon fiber

Relocation Package
Candidates relocating to Midland, Texas may be eligible for:
