Job title: Junior Budget Analyst
Fulltime with Karthik Consulting
Location: Hybrid
Clearance: Active Public Trust
Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
Position Type: Full-Time Contingent upon award
Travel: Ability to travel on TDY as requested by the Government.
The Junior Budget Specialist provides day-to-day budget, financial, resource-management, reporting, and administrative support to the Senior Budget Analysts and Senior Accountants.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain budget and financial tracking spreadsheets and databases.
• Track funding, obligations, expenditures, balances, and planned requirements.
• Collect, organize, validate, and reconcile financial and operational data.
• Assist with preparation of recurring budget reports, spend plans, forecasts, and data calls.
• Prepare charts, tables, briefing inputs, and supporting documentation.
• Assist senior analysts with variance analysis and resource tracking.
• Maintain staffing, workload, funding, and operational trackers.
• Support financial records management and audit/document requests.
• Perform data-quality checks and research discrepancies.
• Update dashboards and reporting products.
• Track actions, deadlines, and financial deliverables.
• Provide surge administrative and mission support when required
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Public Administration, or related field or equivalent relevant experience.
• 2–4 years of budget, finance, accounting, program-control, or resource-management experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to work with financial datasets and prepare recurring reports.
• Strong organizational and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous Federal Government or Government-contractor experience.
• Familiarity with Federal budgeting or appropriated funds.
• Power BI or Tableau experience.
• SharePoint/Microsoft 365 experience.
• Exposure to Government ERP or financial-management systems.
