Engineering Lead - Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical & Electrical Systems
Overview
Seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for the production of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, and complex system assemblies within a defense manufacturing environment. This role leads cross-functional engineering efforts, drives production readiness, manages configuration control, and supports program execution from planning through production. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance are required.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting manufacturing and production operations.
• Drive technical execution, issue resolution, and engineering deliverables across multiple programs.
• Coordinate with Program Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance teams.
• Develop and manage project schedules, resource plans, budgets, and technical objectives.
• Lead engineering reviews and provide technical direction to internal stakeholders.
• Manage configuration control activities, including ECNs, TDP releases, CCBs, and ERBs.
• Identify program risks and opportunities and communicate status to leadership.
• Support proposal development, Basis of Estimate (BOE) activities, and program planning.
• Review manufacturing readiness, tooling, production processes, and supplier performance.
• Support AS9102 First Article Inspection reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of engineering experience within the aerospace, defense, or military manufacturing industry.
• Proven engineering leadership, technical lead, or team leadership experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production engineering, and product lifecycle activities.
• Strong knowledge of configuration management principles and change control processes.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and coordinating project execution.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Build-to-print manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Production Planning, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management Systems) and ERP systems.
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) expertise.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, machining, fabrication, or complex manufacturing operations.
• Proposal development and BOE experience.
Work Arrangement
