Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to lead a multidisciplinary Systems Engineering team within the Radars & Electronic Systems Line of Business. The LSE will serve as a key member of the Architecture team for the Common Scalable Signal Processor (SSP), championing consistent application of Systems Engineering (SE) processes, driving high-quality SE deliverables, and ensuring the integrity of the requirements baseline across all Product Development Teams (PDTs).

The ability to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required.

This position is on-site in the Liverpool, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Team Membership: Actively participate in the team responsible for creating architectural artifacts supporting updates to SSP; providing technical leadership and insight.
  • Process Consistency: Enforce uniform application of the SE process across all PDTs, ensuring a consistent level of quality in all SE products, guiding the team in adopting best practices and process improvements.
  • Requirements Management: Maintain the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) and guarantee a stable technical requirements baseline.
  • Technical Leadership: Oversee the development of solid system design solutions, accurate models, Pure Variant (PV) applications, requirements language, Interface Description Language (IDL), and Algorithm Description Document (ADD) artifacts.
  • Team Development: Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, knowledge transfer and support to SE staff; mentor the Deputy Product LSE.
  • Review & Approval: Review and approve technical documentation, models, and deliverables for compliance with SE standards.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with program Systems Engineering/Integration & Test (SEIT) teams, test team, and other stakeholders to ensure cross-PDT dependencies are understood and met.
  • Testing & Validation: Work with the test team to confirm all SRS-level requirements are tested (or have a test plan), that test artifacts are created, and that test assertions are recorded in DOORS.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure the DOORS database is complete and accurate (no orphaned or barren entries).
  • Work Completion - Verify that Jira stories, PRs, and bugs are fully resolved before work is declared complete. Track and report on the status of requirements, test plans, and verification activities.
  • Proposal Support - Contribute to proposals and proposal reviews as needed.


Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of progressive Systems Engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with DOORS, Jira, and model-based systems engineering tools; solid understanding of requirements management, verification/validation, and configuration management.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive process adherence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US. DoD Security Clearance

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in Defense or Aerospace programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of Radar Systems and algorithms
  • Experience with Rhapsody; Pure Variants; Collaborator; LaTEX
  • Familiarity with Agile development environments and integrated product teams.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
