We are seeking an Operations Manager to support our customer's operations in Fairbanks, Alaska. This effort provides our Government customer with satellite mission data technical and administrative support services. This position will be on-site and will require an active Secret Clearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, stand and climb stairs and steps. May require walking long distance from parking to work station. We are seeking an Operations Manager to support our customer's operations in Fairbanks, Alaska. This effort provides our Government customer with satellite mission data technical and administrative support services. This position will be on-site and will require an active Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage continuous, around-the-clock operation of the FSOF control room and ensure sufficient qualified personnel are available to support all assigned spacecraft missions.
- Direct operation of ground-station systems used for spacecraft command, control, tracking, telemetry, science-data reception, data recording, processing, storage, and transfer.
- Ensure operations personnel execute approved automated and manual procedures, monitor equipment and signal status, communicate with mission controllers, and take immediate corrective action during anomalies.
- Coordinate satellite-contact schedules, resolve scheduling conflicts, and assign antenna assets according to Government mission priorities.
- Maintain readiness for GOES-West backup operations, DSCOVR support, launch and early-orbit activities, proficiency exercises, and remote-system support at Barrow.
- Lead anomaly response and ensure indications, analyses, corrective actions, test results, restoration status, and estimated resolution times are properly documented.
- Ensure completion of shift logs, Ground System Operations and Maintenance Summaries, Equipment Status Reports, pass-success reports, availability metrics, data-capture reports, and latency reports.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, system testing, configuration changes, engineering support, and restoration of failed ground-system equipment.
- Maintain appropriate Secret-cleared and COMSEC-qualified personnel coverage for every shift requiring classified or cryptographic support.
- Train, qualify, schedule, evaluate, and cross-train operations personnel to maintain adequate coverage during leave, emergencies, launches, training events, and workload surges.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in satellite ground-station operations, telemetry, tracking and command, mission operations, communications systems, or a closely related technical environment.
- At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience directing satellite ground operations, mission operations, or another continuous technical-operations organization.
- At least 5 years of hands-on or supervisory experience with automated ground systems, antenna systems, RF equipment, data-processing systems, operations networks, and control-room interfaces.
- At least 3 years of experience managing 24x7 shift operations, including shift scheduling, qualification coverage, shift turnover, leave coverage, emergency callout, and workload surges.
- At least 3 years of experience coordinating satellite-pass schedules, resolving competing asset requirements, or managing simultaneous use of multiple mission-support systems.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting contingency failover, spacecraft launch, early-orbit operations, proficiency exercises, or other time-critical mission events.
- At least 5 years of experience leading anomaly detection, troubleshooting, fault isolation, corrective action, testing, and restoration of complex electronic or ground-system equipment.
- At least 3 years of experience managing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, calibration, configuration control, system testing, and technical documentation.
- At least 3 years of experience preparing or reviewing operational metrics and reports, including availability, pass success, data capture, latency, anomaly trends, and equipment status.
- At least 2 years of experience in a classified or COMSEC-supported operating environment is preferred.
