Job Description
The Liaison Engineer will provide technical engineering support for production, depot, and fielded systems, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of non-conforming material. This role serves as the primary interface between engineering, manufacturing, technicians, and quality organizations to disposition material, interpret structural and mechanical requirements, and maintain compliance with established processes and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and disposition non-conforming hardware in accordance with engineering requirements, quality standards, and configuration management processes.
- Develop clear, actionable instructions for structural dispositions and repair activities to support depot-level overhaul operations and aircraft modifications.
- Develop clear, actionable instructions for electrical dispositions and repair activities to support harness fabrication and aircraft modifications
- Create non-conformance reports and apply appropriate substantiation, including structural and functional assessments when required.
- Determine and document correct material dispositions, including USE AS IS, REPAIR, REWORK, or SCRAP, ensuring compliance with approved engineering criteria.
- Coordinate with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production personnel to ensure accurate issue resolution and maintain product integrity.
- Address obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) concerns, supporting corrective actions, alternate part qualification, and sustainment planning.
- Provide timely support to fielded systems, including troubleshooting, technical clarification, and repair guidance.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for recurring non-conformance issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with non-conformance evaluation, Material Review Board (MRB) processes, and engineering substantiation practices.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and quality aerospace standards (such as AS50881, AS9100, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
- Familiarity with structural repair instruction development and interpretation of engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
- Experience with obsolescence management, DMSMS analysis, and identification of alternate solutions.
- Strong communication skills with ability to interface effectively with technicians, manufacturing personnel, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to support production and fielded environments, including rapid response to technical issues.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret level Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in aerospace manufacturing, depot-level repair, or field support engineering.
- Experience with MRB boards or liaison engineering roles.
- Understanding of United States Air Force (USAF) serviceability codes for fielded assets.
