Job Description

The Production and Material Planning Manager is responsible for driving integrated production and material planning across all active programs and functional groups throughout the organization. This role will provide end-to-end planning oversight, systems development and integration to ensure manufacturing orders are executable, materials are available, schedules are achievable, and programs are supported from launch through delivery.

This position plays a critical role in Deploying Faster by translating demand and program requirements into clear, executable production plans; Operating with Confidence through disciplined planning, data integrity, and cross-functional alignment; and Designing with Purpose by ensuring production strategies, schedules, and material plans are intentionally aligned with program objectives, operational realities, and mission-critical outcomes.

The Production and Material Planning Manager serves as a central coordination point between supply chain, manufacturing, program management, and operations to enable efficient, predictable, and compliant execution.

What You’ll Do:
- Own and maintain the master production schedule (MPS) across all active programs, balancing demand, capacity, material availability, and operational priorities to deploy programs faster without sacrificing execution discipline.
- Develop and manage the implementation plan for Costpoint ERP/MRP modules to ensure Manufacturing Order (MO) build plans, accurate routings, lead times, and work sequencing that support repeatable, confident execution across the business.
- Translate program requirements and customer demand into executable production schedules and material plans that are purpose-built to support program milestones and delivery commitments.
- Lead or delegate detailed work planning activities in collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to ensure plans are realistic, aligned, and executable.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain to plan, track, and mitigate material constraints, long-lead items, and supplier risks, enabling proactive decision-making and schedule stability.
- Coordinate with Program Management to align production schedules, milestones, and deliverables with contractual requirements and program objectives.
- Provide production planning input during program kickoff and throughout the program lifecycle, supporting new program launches, changes in scope, and production transitions with intentional, structured planning.
- Monitor schedule performance, material readiness, and production risks; proactively identify issues and drive corrective actions to maintain operational confidence and predictability.
- Facilitate cross-functional planning meetings to align priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure transparency across teams.
- Support operations with capacity planning, load leveling, and scenario planning to optimize throughput, resource utilization, and responsiveness to change.
- Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems, ensuring data integrity and alignment across functions to support trusted, data-driven execution.
- Prepare and present planning status, risks, and recommendations to operations and program leadership, enabling informed, timely decisions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning processes, scheduling accuracy, and operational execution, reinforcing a culture of designed, not reactive, operations.
- Provides oversight and coordination of employees who work in the Production and Materials Planning Department. Responsibilities include planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; managing development and sustainment projects by establishing requirements, goals, schedules, and budgets; conducting training and mentoring; and implementing and enforcing SelectTech systems, policies, and procedures.

What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
- 7+ years of experience in production planning, materials planning, manufacturing scheduling, or production project management.
- 5+ years of experience leading technicians or production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex schedules and manufacturing build plans in dynamic environments.
- Solid understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Costpoint experience preferred), manufacturing workflows, and supply chain fundamentals.
- Proven ability to coordinate across supply chain, manufacturing, program management, and operations to drive aligned execution.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on anticipating and mitigating risk.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating within an AS9100 Quality Management System and familiarity with FAR requirements.
- Must be able to qualify for and maintain at least a Secret Security Clearance.
