We are looking for a Biological Scientist to support the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Office of the Clinical Director and associated research programs. This role will be supporting biorepository operations, clinical research activities, and the HR-pQCT Imaging Program. This position is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD.

What You Will Do:
We are looking for a Biological Scientist to support the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Office of the Clinical Director and associated research programs. This role will be supporting biorepository operations, clinical research activities, and the HR-pQCT Imaging Program. This position is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD.
- Support quality, efficient operations for the NICHD Biorepository and HR-pQCT Imaging Programs, including managing biospecimens from clinical protocols and obtaining bone density and microarchitecture scans for NIH Clinical Center study participants.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director, program team, researchers, clinicians, and stakeholders to accomplish programmatic goals, research objectives, and collaborative scientific initiatives.
- Plan and administer biological, clinical, and translational research activities, including studies of biological systems, physiology, anatomy, development, function, organisms, and their environments.
- Collect, organize, analyze, evaluate, and interpret scientific, biological, experimental, production, and test data to support research initiatives, study objectives, and scientific evaluation.
- Monitor and observe experiments; perform laboratory analyses on biological samples using established procedures and protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces in compliance with applicable safety, quality, and laboratory standards.
- Use computer systems and databases to store, process, manage, and analyze research data while maintaining accurate laboratory notebooks, research records, and technical documentation.
- Prepare reports, summaries, findings, manuscripts, scientific documentation, and PowerPoint presentations to communicate research results, project data, and updates to research personnel, laboratory members, stakeholders, and scientific conferences.
- Coordinate biological technicians, technologists, and other scientific staff as needed.
- Learn and apply new laboratory techniques, methodologies, technologies, and data management practices.
What You Will Need:
- Master's degree in Biology, Physiology, General Medical and Health Services, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of THREE (3) years of experience with biospecimen management and laboratory operations.
- Background supporting clinical and translational research activities.
- Skilled in analyzing and interpreting biological or scientific data.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare scientific reports, presentations, manuscripts, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Hands-on use of clinical research databases and scientific data management systems.
- Willingness and ability to learn operation of the HR-pQCT bone density scanner.
- Ability to contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- PhD in Physiology, Cell Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Prior support for NIH or other federal biomedical research programs.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of biorepository operations and biospecimen inventory management.
- Familiarity with bone densitometry and HR-pQCT imaging technologies.
- Exposure to human imaging research protocols.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and scientific data presentation.
- Ability to coordinate laboratory or research support personnel.
- Familiarity with clinical protocol operations within a hospital or clinical research environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and laboratory safety practices.
