Quality Assurance Specialist

Duties

• Develop and manage the annual schedule for internal audits and surveillance inspections, ensuring all required audits, reports, and evidentiary records are completed
• Serve as a technical advisor on quality control, evaluating the effectiveness of quality assurance processes and their impact on the production mission.
• Coordinate quality planning for all manufacturing, maintenance, and paint processes, providing ongoing analysis and reporting to determine causes and implement corrective actions.
• Verify product quality through sampling inspections, using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to identify and address weaknesses in the quality system.
• Interpret product data, including drawings, specifications, and technical manuals, to establish quality requirements and procedures for audits and inspections.
• Monitor the quality of materials and supplies throughout the production cycle, investigating any issues related to vendors, customers, or production operations.
• Manage the formal corrective action process for systemic problems, investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports to prevent recurrence and ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Applying established quality assurance methods, principles, and practices to evaluate maintenance or production operations and ensure compliance with specified quality requirements. Analyzing performance data to identify product, process, or quality system deficiencies and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Conducting internal reviews/audits/inspections to verify quality management system compliance, gathering evidentiary records, and drafting audit reportsThis definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Quality Assurance, Statistics, Industrial Management, Production Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, or Computer Science.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
