Health System Specialist

Duties

• Plan, direct, and coordinate clinical administrative operations in support of the assigned organizational leadership.
• Conduct analyses of clinical workload, access to care, provider productivity, appointment utilization, and patient flow to identify operational barriers.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures which support clinical mission requirements.
• Oversee administrative components of clinical support programs including Government Purchase Card (GPC), travel, and equipment procurement to ensure alignment with clinical mission requirements.
• Conduct studies, surveys, and interviews with clinical staff to identify operational issues affecting patient care delivery.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance clinical efficiency, access to care, and patient experience.
• Serve as liaison between clinic leadership and the Military Treatment Facility on matters involving clinical staffing, manpower utilization, position management, and organizational structure.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting administrative and management analyses of clinical operations to recommend policy or resource improvements; coordinating clinical activities and preparing briefings or reports for leadership on issues affecting clinical mission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
