Job Description
Innovien is supporting the work on a major national defense initiative, maintaining and securing a large-scale, highly resilient global network. We're hiring a Network Operations Engineer to join a 24x7 NOC team keeping mission-critical operations running without interruption. This is primarily a remote-login, VPN-based engineering and troubleshooting role, with hands-on access to networks, devices, and firewalls across one of the most complex enterprise environments in the field.
What You'll Do
Remotely monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across a large-scale enterprise network supporting 24x7 operations
Review firewall rules, ACLs, and logs to identify and resolve network path issues
Perform shift-based NOC duties, including rotating shift coverage during onboarding
Collaborate with NOC leads and fellow engineers to maintain secure, reliable network availability
Document troubleshooting steps and escalate issues per program procedures
What You Bring
2+ years of hands-on network troubleshooting/engineering experience (Cisco and Juniper preferred; HPE/Aruba, Palo Alto, Broadcom also relevant); more senior candidates should have 4+ or 7+ years
Hands-on experience logging into remote access VPN network devices and running CLI commands for troubleshooting
Mid-level and senior: firewall troubleshooting experience, including reviewing rules and ACLs (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto 5200/5060 series preferred)
Senior: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, CCIP, or equivalent vendor certification (Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.)
Active Secret clearance required
Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification required (PDF downloaded directly from CompTIA prior to submission)
Nice to Have
Prior military or enterprise NOC experience
B.S. degree
Additional vendor certifications beyond the minimum requirement (JNCIA/JNCIS, higher-level Cisco credentials)

Onsite — Scott AFB, IL or Hill AFB, UT
Shift flexibility required: rotates through Days, Swings, and Mids (one month each) during the first 90 days; steady shift assigned afterward based on mission need, with reassignment possible
