Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented Network Engineer with a Final DoD Secret clearance to work on mission-critical Military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Ground systems within an Agile Development Environment. You will be a key member of the Component Integration Team, assisting in the design, implementation, and sustainment of Ground Systems that support secure, high-performance communications. As a
Network Engineer you will:
- Design and plan network communications systems that support geographically dispersed, cross-site SATCOM operations, including multi-pathing and redundancy.
- Develop detailed specifications and schematics for network architecture, hardware selection, and implementation tools that address current and future capacity requirements.
- Conduct testing and validation of network designs, including data-flow analysis, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate emerging communications technologies and recommend enhancements to improve network capability, resiliency, and security.
- Implement Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions and integrate them with existing infrastructure.
- Provide technical expertise on network and computer hardware/software interconnection, ensuring seamless data exchange between applications and remote locations.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) to deliver high-quality solutions continuously.
Basic Qualifications
- Active Final DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
- Proven experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Data Flow Analysis.
- Current or ability to obtain CCNA/CCNP certification.
- Fundamental knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, NFS, DHCP, DNS, FTP, Telnet, SSH, and firewall policy design.
Desired Skills
- DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CASP, CISSP).
- Experience operating within Red Hat based environments.
- Familiarity with DISA STIG checklists and hardening of Layer 2/Layer 3 switches.
- Hands-on experience with Type 1 encryption devices (e.g., TACLANE).
- Proficiency using protocol analyzers/sniffers such as Wireshark.
- Interest/experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- Knowledge of military SATCOM systems and secure communication protocols.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware.
- Familiarity with Agile development tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
